Quiz for Novices
Odin Vili Ve is a good answer... and not exactly wrong..
Introduced in the Prose Edda as High, Just as High, and Third
Odin had two brothers, and together they have often been considered aspects
of Odin instead of three separate deities. There are stories that talk of
Vili filling in during Odin's absence though, so the arguement could definitely
be made that they are three separate beings. Be that as it may, we don't
know if it was Odin and his brothers or if Odin somehow appeared to be three
persons. The artist in the medieval painting above obviously considers all
three beings to be Odin, but it may be that artists preconceptions more than
real insight into the Eddas.
